GHS is thrilled to announce that the Hispanic National Bar Association’s Commission on the Status of Latinas in the Legal Profession has selected our founding partner, Mary T. Hernández, as the recipient of the Mari Carmen Aponte Award at the HNBA’s 2025 Annual Conference in Washington, D.C.
This highly selective award, named for the HNBA’s first woman president, honors a Latina lawyer who has achieved excellence in her field, demonstrated a record of contributing to or assisting her community, and pioneered in her profession. The Latina Commission only grants this award when they encounter an individual whose impact and leadership are truly extraordinary — and this year, they found that leader in Mary.
Mary’s nomination came from an impressive group of HNBA Past Presidents, including Mari Carmen Aponte, Dolores Atencio, and Ramona Romero, as well as GHS’ other equity partners who are women, and HNBA Luminaria Deborah Escobedo, among others. This broad support reflects the deep admiration Mary has earned from her clients, the communities she serves, and leaders across the legal profession.
We could not be more proud of Mary for this well-deserved recognition of her pioneering spirit, unwavering advocacy, and tireless dedication to uplifting our communities.
