On April 8th 2016, Garcia Hernández Sawhney Founder Mary Hernández received the Community Advocate Award from the San Francisco La Raza Lawyers Association (SFLRA) during their prestigious annual Noche de Gala event. The dinner raises scholarships for law students who work at public interest organizations during the summer.
This award recognizes a SFLRA member who has continually made distinguished contributions to improve the educational conditions of students, families and/or communities towards social justice. We would also like to extend our congratulations to Christine Soto DeBerry, Chief of Staff at the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, honored with the Community Trailblazer Award.
SFLRLA serves as a resource for and advocates on behalf of the Latino legal community in the Bay Area.
Mary Hernández is a founding partner of Garcia Hernández Sawhney, LLP and heads the San Francisco Bay Area office. Hernandez serves as legal counsel to school, county and community college districts as well as nonprofit organizations and charter schools throughout California.
