GHS LLP Upcoming Webinar: The Nuts and Bolts of an August Layoff

May 27, 2020

In light of the significant proposed cuts to LCFF under the Governor’s May Revise, every aspect of school
services, school operations and district fiscal services will be impacted. As a result, school districts will also likely
have the unique option under the Education Code to lay off certificated teachers and administrators with a
summer layoff (even those who did not receive a March 15th notice). The summer layoff process, however, is on
a unique and compressed timeline and this webinar will outline the steps necessary for school districts
struggling with difficult budgetary decisions to stay ahead of the curve and be ready in the coming weeks in the
event these drastic measures are needed.

Continuing its webinar series, Garcia Hernández Sawhney, LLP will host a free webinar, on June 1, 2020, starting
at 2:00 PST to provide more in‐depth information on the summer layoff process. Earlier this month, we provided
a webinar featuring a panel of experts summarizing the new Title IX regulations issued by the U.S. Department
of Education. If you missed it, feel free to contact us for additional information.

Invitations to our June 1, 2020 webinar training on the summer layoff process have been sent to clients and
other friends. Clients who have not received the webinar invite by May 28, 2020 should contact us. GHS LLP
attorneys are available to provide additional information, answer your questions and train your staff.
For more information, please contact the GHS LLP lawyer with whom you usually work, or contact Melinda
Montrose at +1 (619) 564‐8400 or at mmontrose@ghslaw.com.
