Janet Ly is a Partner in Garcia Hernandez Sawhney, LLP’s Los Angeles office. Ms. Ly’s practice focuses on complex litigation matters and representing the firm’s education and municipal clients. She has extensive experience in handling commercial litigation disputes, including breach of contract, high stakes business tort litigation, employment and professional liability. She has significant courtroom experience, including appearing and arguing before the courts in hearings and jury trials.
Ms. Ly received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from University of California, Los Angeles. She earned her law degree from Boston College School of Law, where she participated in moot court and was awarded by the faculty the Top Ten Best Written Brief Award. While in law school, Ms. Ly worked at Lee and Li, Attorneys-at-Law, the largest international law firm in Taiwan. At Lee and Li, she used her bilingual skills to effectively work on complex commercial disputes between Chinese and foreign entities.
Upon graduation from law school, Ms. Ly served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Raymond J. Brassard of the Massachusetts Superior Court. She then became a Law Fellow to all the Justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court, assisting the Justices in all phases of civil and criminal litigation.
Ms. Ly is fluent in Chinese. She is also committed in serving the community, including sitting on the board for OCA-Greater Los Angeles and mentoring at-risk youths.
Ms. Ly is admitted to practice in the courts of California and Massachusetts.
